We have made more progress in three weeks of playing than we did in twice as much time with our old class set of instruments. We are able to store them where all four kindergarten classes can access them, whenever we have a student in need of enrichment or a playful way to reset. Our students have been delighted to explore the offerings, and we have seen a great motivation for students to learn the skills they need to be successful when they play. Many of the visual-spatial experiences have brought out previously unidentified skills in students who struggle with more traditional schoolwork.\r\n\r\nWe so appreciate these gifts, and they are even more special as they are in memory of Mrs. Bradford, who loved on Harbor View students for years. With such a small space and so many children using our playground, these extra activities have been very fun for the children on the playground. The ramp set have been very popular, with the kids using toy cars, balls, and even dinosaurs to walk the ramps. The mud kitchen adds an element of dramatic play to the mix, where the kids can go to the market to complete their shopping list to make dinner.
