Your generosity has provided us with the materials and resources we need to bring this exciting project to life, and the impact has already been incredible.\r\n\r\nFor my special education students, learning real-world skills is one of the most important ways to prepare them for life beyond the classroom. With your support, our coffee business has become a hands-on learning laboratory where they practice meaningful skills every single day. They are not just reading about life skills in a textbook—they are living them, practicing them, and building confidence through real experiences.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest areas of growth has been in food preparation and safety. Students take pride in learning how to measure, pour, and prepare drinks carefully and responsibly. For many of them, this is their first time working with equipment and following step-by-step procedures in a way that feels connected to a real job. The smiles on their faces when they serve a finished cup of coffee show how proud they are of themselves and their accomplishments.\r\n\r\nAnother critical skill they are practicing is money management and customer interaction. Taking orders, counting change, and completing transactions gives them practice with math skills in a functional and meaningful way. For students who sometimes struggle with abstract math, handling real money to complete a sale makes learning come alive. They are also developing communication and social skills by greeting \"customers,\" answering questions, and practicing polite interactions. These are the exact skills they will need in the workplace and in their daily lives.\r\n\r\nYour gift has also allowed us to teach students about organization and inventory. Keeping track of supplies, restocking items, and learning to plan ahead has introduced them to responsibility in a structured way. It is amazing to watch them realize that their careful attention to detail ensures the business runs smoothly. They are seeing firsthand how planning and responsibility are key to success.\r\n\r\nBeyond the academic and practical lessons, the coffee business has given my students something even more powerful—a sense of purpose and pride. Many of my students struggle with confidence, but this project allows them to shine. They feel important because they are doing work that matters and contributing to something bigger than themselves. Their excitement when staff members or visitors stop by to purchase coffee is contagious, and it motivates them to keep improving.","fullyFundedDate":1755522445568,"projectUrl":"project/fueling-dreams-one-cup-at-at-time/9369766/","projectTitle":"Fueling Dreams One Cup at at Time","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Werner","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9989924_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1743769042633","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/pwerner"},{"teacherId":9849847,"projectId":8974859,"letterContent":"Thank you for all of your amazing support in getting my students the art supplies they needed.
