Some of the items we are just beginning to use and the students are having a fun time exploring new learning with them. The towels and the pencil pouches have been so helpful for nap time and for our learning time. We are learning to use our phonic phones to make our letter sounds. We are learning to use the mirrors to see if our lips are forming the letter sounds correctly. These are the biggest help for reinforcing our alphabet sound learning in the classroom. We will be using our journals soon to practice our drawing and writing skills. \r\n\r\nWe received all the new playdough supplies. Our favorite is the playdough rollers and scissors. We are practicing our cutting skills with playdough. Some of our favorite things to do is pretending it is food or putting it on top of the lid and pretending we are giving someone a haircut. \r\n\r\nWe are so appreciative of your help with getting all these supplies for us to have a great start to the new school year. Reading is my passion! I strive each and every day to provide the students in my Title One school with the materials and support that they need to feel successful with reading. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for making this project possible for my fantastic kindergarten through fifth grade reading intervention students. We received our project materials towards the beginning of January. As the boxes arrived, I began to show each grade level (K-5) the new learning games that we will use in class to supplement the UFLI phonics instruction that I currently am using. The students will use the phonics/comprehension games to practice and reinforce the strategies that they are learning in class. The games include several intervention strategies that I have used in the course of my thirty year teaching career. The games included the following skills: picture sequencing, CVC practice, beginning/middle/final sounds in words, sentence building, blends, digraphs, and recall of information. The favorite game for all my grade levels is called Tapple. The students beg me to play the game every day. \r\n\r\nThe Literacy Games have given me the ease of progress monitoring and tracking the progress that my students have made during the 2025-2026 school year. I am very blessed to have donors that value supporting and educating the future leaders of tomorrow.","fullyFundedDate":1766584126851,"projectUrl":"project/gamify-literacy/9674310/","projectTitle":"Gamify Literacy!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Phillips","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3294137_orig.jpg?crop=1244,1244,x0,y311&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1684329341030","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3294137"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_6272","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":396,"numTeachers":30,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":79,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":4,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":6,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":64.9,"schoolId":6272,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Iva Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Iva Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/south-carolina/anderson-school-district-3/iva-elementary-school/6272"}
