Some of my students don't have access to reading/books other than being in school. This made them so happy and wanted to give to other people and help the community. They decided to start a soup donation to our school's pantry to help others in need.\r\n\r\nThey loved reading \"Matilda\" by Roald Dahl so much that they wanted to read more Roald Dahl books and to keep reading. They enjoyed the story and connected with the character of Matilda because she had family struggles and many of my students have the same thing happening to them. They were so engaged while reading and this helped with their fluency and comprehension as well. We are a Title 1 school and we are so grateful for any donations and help to our school/classroom.
