For the last three months we have read about, observed, and filled our science notebooks with writing about the insects we received. \r\n\r\nOur caterpillars started in individual cups with each student before becoming too big and joining together in the provided netting home. We learned about the life cycle and watched as they formed their chrysalis. The excitement was like Christmas morning when our caterpillars emerged and we saw our beautiful Painted Lady butterflies. It was a mixed emotions day when we released our butterflies into the wild, but we feel lucky to have viewed this experience up close and personal. \r\n\r\nOur darkling bettles continue their life cycle after laying eggs and we currently have mealworms.
