In a high-poverty, rural school where harsh winter weather and food insecurity are daily challenges, seeing box after box of warm gloves, hats, and nutritious snacks felt like a giant warm hug. Their faces lit up as we unpacked everything together. We excitedly put the items on our PBIS prize cart for all students to be able to purchase with their earned money. \r\nWe are currently still utilizing these new resources to build a consistent, supportive daily routine that directly feeds into our academic growth. Students are able to purchase a healthy snack and grab winter items as needed.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next big step is diving into an integrated cross-curricular STEM and literacy unit on weather and seasonal changes. Once my students were warm, nourished, and fully equipped, we launched research projects where they will track local weather patterns, write informational reports, and design simple winter weather gear prototypes.
