The ice maker has been such a wonderful addition to our classroom sensory supports. I teach a K–2 autistic support class, and many of my students benefit greatly from sensory input throughout the day to help them stay regulated and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nWe have been using the ice in a variety of sensory activities. For example, students have been exploring ice during sensory play by scooping, transferring, and feeling the temperature and texture as it melts. One really special moment was watching a student who usually struggles to engage in group activities become completely focused while scooping and sorting the ice. It provided calming sensory input and allowed the student to stay engaged with peers for a longer period of time.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the ice maker and realized we could make ice right in our classroom, they were so excited! They were curious about how it worked and loved watching the ice form. The experience sparked lots of interest and conversation, which is wonderful for building communication and social interaction.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we plan to continue using the ice maker during sensory centers and small group activities. Students will use the ice for sensory exploration, simple science observations like watching ice melt, and practicing skills like taking turns and sharing materials. These experiences help support sensory regulation, communication, and social development for my students.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped create meaningful sensory experiences that truly support our students' learning and well-being. These chairs give us options especially for my kindergarten students who are a little bit more on the go and have a harder time sitting still. They can select a spinny chair and spin while also sitting and attending to our story time, morning meeting, and leisure activities. Many of my students love to spin and are choosing to sit in one of our new chairs at every possible opportunity!
