With the very cold weather we've been experiencing here in Wayne, PA, we've had a significant increase in indoor recess days. The new games have given students a fun, engaging, and active way to spend that time together. One moment that stood out was during a particularly long stretch of indoor recess when students worked in small groups to learn and teach each other the rules of the games. It turned into a collaborative, student-led experience full of teamwork, laughter, and problem-solving. The pencil sharpener has also been a huge help—keeping our classroom running smoothly and minimizing disruptions during lessons.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate and contagious. They were eager to explore each game, asking questions and quickly diving in to play. There was a noticeable boost in morale, especially on those cold days when we couldn't go outside. Many students expressed gratitude and even made comments about how \"fun\" indoor recess now feels. The new pencil sharpener was also met with cheers as ours had recently broke. It may seem simple, but having a reliable, efficient tool has made a big difference in their day-to-day experience.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we plan to continue incorporating these resources into our classroom community. The games are helping students build important social skills like cooperation, communication, and sportsmanship, which we will continue to reinforce during both recess and structured group activities. In our current classroom projects, we are focusing on collaborative learning, and these experiences during indoor recess are naturally supporting that growth. Thank you for giving our students tools that not only bring joy but also support their development in meaningful ways.","fullyFundedDate":1766353956480,"projectUrl":"project/recess-options/9968112/","projectTitle":"Recess Options","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Collins","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10386283"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_89307","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":552,"numTeachers":30,"percentFrplEligible":6,"percentAsian":38,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":45,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":4,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 4","studentTeacherRatio":"18.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":0.0,"schoolId":89307,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Valley Forge Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Valley Forge Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/tredyffrin-easttown-sch-dist/valley-forge-elementary-school/89307"}
