Almost everything has been put to use at some point so far. Students are enjoying the markers, colored pencils, crayons, and paper to create artistic renditions of texts we're reading. Sticky notes have been used for students to stay organized and also for them to write kind notes to one another for a kindness project we've been doing. And other supplies, like folders, binders, and pencils have been given to students who may not be able to purchase these on their own. These supplies have helped make my classroom an inviting area where students feel supported and connected to one another. So again, thank you for your kindness.","fullyFundedDate":1754837180195,"projectUrl":"project/jumpstart-the-26-27-school-year/9295447/","projectTitle":"Jumpstart the 26-27 School Year!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gilroy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9471999"},{"teacherId":9471999,"projectId":8918639,"letterContent":"We just finished our first \"Read Across Susquenita\" middle school edition, and it was a huge success. Students had the opportunity to read Wishtree by Katherine Applegate with their classmates, staff, and members of the community. Guest readers - including our local weatherman, town mayor, former teachers, superintendent, high school musical members, and even a Penn State football player - shared chapters of the novel with our students. High school students came to the middle school and joined classes so everyone could see the value of a community working together. We shared our wishes with each other, and these were hung on a beautifully constructed paper mache tree created by the art teacher and her classes. Students reflected on what they love about themselves by creating paper hearts, and our life skills class lined our hallways with these hearts. We also gave students, staff, and community members the opportunity to share where their ancestors came from, what traditions their families have, and what makes them unique. A wall-sized world map hangs outside of the library, and all students were given a sticker to put on their family's country of origin. This was a great project which saw our school working together and finding common ground through reading. We are so grateful for all the donations that made this possible. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for deeming our cause worthy!","fullyFundedDate":1731691199019,"projectUrl":"project/read-across-sms/8918639/","projectTitle":"Read Across SMS","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gilroy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9471999"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_58998","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":562,"numTeachers":43,"percentFrplEligible":42,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":83,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"5 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"13.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.0,"schoolId":58998,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Susquenita Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Susquenita Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/susquenita-school-district/susquenita-middle-school/58998"}
