As they played, students naturally practiced speaking and listening skills—asking questions, responding to one another, and using new vocabulary—while also strengthening cooperation and problem-solving.\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate and joyful. They were eager to explore each piece, carefully arranging furniture, creating characters, and jumping right into imaginative play. Many students who are typically quieter found their voices through pretend play, using the props as a comfortable way to express ideas, emotions, and stories.\r\nBecause of our donors' generosity, the next steps for our students include expanding this play into more intentional storytelling and communication activities. We will be encouraging students to retell their play scenarios, draw or dictate stories about their dollhouse families, and connect pretend play to social-emotional learning and literacy skills. As you can see from the pictures, the students had a blast. \r\n\r\nPlay is a major part of elementary music and the parachutes and stepping stones are amazing additions to the play activities we are already doing in the classroom. I have also found new lessons that I can't wait to try with my students using these resources.\r\n\r\nThe boomwhackers fit perfectly in the new holders.
