One memorable moment was watching a small group of students work together to set up a \"family home,\" assigning roles, negotiating where furniture should go, and creating stories about the people who lived there. As they played, students naturally practiced speaking and listening skills—asking questions, responding to one another, and using new vocabulary—while also strengthening cooperation and problem-solving.\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate and joyful. They were eager to explore each piece, carefully arranging furniture, creating characters, and jumping right into imaginative play. Many students who are typically quieter found their voices through pretend play, using the props as a comfortable way to express ideas, emotions, and stories.\r\nBecause of our donors' generosity, the next steps for our students include expanding this play into more intentional storytelling and communication activities. We will be encouraging students to retell their play scenarios, draw or dictate stories about their dollhouse families, and connect pretend play to social-emotional learning and literacy skills. These materials have transformed our free-play centers into rich learning spaces where imagination, communication, and collaboration grow every day.","fullyFundedDate":1763475381438,"projectUrl":"project/little-learners-big-pretenders/9890195/","projectTitle":"Little Learners, Big Pretenders!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rowe","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9390974_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1722989804719","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9390974"},{"teacherId":9390974,"projectId":9540917,"letterContent":"Our PreK students are using the new gross motor development tools daily as part of our classroom routines and learning centers. One special moment was watching students collaborate to create their own movement obstacle course—taking turns balancing, crawling, jumping, and cheering each other on. These resources have allowed us to intentionally build strength, coordination, and confidence while also practicing social skills like turn-taking, problem-solving, and encouragement.\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate. They were eager to explore, asking questions about how to use each item and proudly demonstrating movements they already knew. The tools quickly became a favorite part of our day, helping students regulate their bodies, release energy in positive ways, and stay focused during learning times.\r\nThanks to our donors, the next steps for our students include using these resources to support structured movement lessons and student-led exploration. As we move through the winter months and spend more time indoors, these tools are especially valuable during indoor recess, keeping students engaged, active, and joyful. We are learning and growing together—building strong bodies, positive relationships, and a classroom environment where movement supports learning every day.","fullyFundedDate":1763475378617,"projectUrl":"project/active-play-for-active-minds/9540917/","projectTitle":"Active Play for Active Minds!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rowe","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9390974_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1722989804719","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9390974"},{"teacherId":9686025,"projectId":9872501,"letterContent":"Thank You for Supporting Our Students' Hearts and Minds!\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our K–3 students now have access to powerful social-emotional learning storybooks and a hands-on amygdala model that have truly transformed how they understand their emotions and behavior. The stories have helped our youngest learners recognize feelings, practice empathy, and learn positive ways to handle big emotions through relatable characters and real-life situations. Students are making stronger connections, using calm-down strategies more independently, and showing greater awareness of how their actions affect others.\r\n\r\nThe amygdala kit has been especially impactful. It has given students a concrete way to understand what happens in their brains when they feel scared, angry, or overwhelmed. Seeing and touching this learning has made emotional regulation less abstract and more empowering for our students. They now use language like \"my amygdala is taking over\" and know what steps to take to regain control.\r\n\r\nYour support has created lasting change in our classroom, helping students feel safer, more confident, and more ready to learn each day. On behalf of our entire school community, thank you for believing in our students and for investing in both their academic success and emotional well-being. Music plays such an important role in my elementary school and it is heart warming to know there are people out there who support music education.\r\n\r\nMy kindergartener through 5th graders were so excited to see what we received. My percussion students were very excited to see the new cymbal stands and were eager to use them. The Little Golden Books have been a hit with all ages.
