It was wonderful to see my middle school students come into the classroom excited, curious, and ready to begin a new year of learning. I was especially encouraged by how well they responded to the resources and activities I introduced. The students showed genuine interest in the materials, and many of them were eager to explore the books and other resources that we will be using throughout the coming weeks.\r\nOne of the highlights of the day was introducing the books that will support our reading intervention. My students were excited to look through the different books and talk about the stories, topics, and characters that caught their attention. Their enthusiasm was encouraging because developing a positive attitude toward reading is an important part of helping students become more confident and successful readers. I am looking forward to using these books to build reading skills while also encouraging students to discover topics and stories that they enjoy.\r\n\r\nIn addition to reading intervention, we will also be focusing on important functional and life skills. My students are particularly excited about having the opportunity to learn how to count and make change. Being able to confidently pay for items in a store is an important skill that they can use in their everyday lives. I am excited to help them practice these skills in meaningful, hands-on ways. We will work on identifying coins and bills, determining the cost of items, figuring out how much money is needed, and calculating the correct amount of change. I believe these activities will help students build both their mathematical skills and their independence.\r\n\r\nIt was also exciting to see students recognize that the skills we are learning in the classroom can be directly connected to situations they may experience outside of school. Providing opportunities to practice real-world skills can help students understand the purpose behind their learning and give them greater confidence in their abilities.\r\n\r\nOverall, Day 1 was a great start to the school year. I am grateful for the positive attitudes and enthusiasm my students brought into the classroom. Their excitement about the resources, especially the books, and their interest in learning practical skills made the day very rewarding. I am looking forward to building on this momentum as the year continues. My goal is to create a classroom environment where students feel supported, encouraged, and confident as they develop both academic and functional skills. I am excited to see the growth they will make throughout the year and all that we will accomplish together!","fullyFundedDate":1779125002712,"projectUrl":"project/show-love-to-emotional-support/10156373/","projectTitle":"Show Love to Emotional Support!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Tiger","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10463989_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y383&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1773618981572","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10463989"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_125725","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":12,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":60,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":6,"gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Weighted Average","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":125725,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Milestones Program on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Milestones Program","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/school-district-of-lancaster/dash-program/125725"}
