The students work on a recorder karate program and every time they learn a new song they get a new recorder belt added to their recorder. Many students ask me when they start the recorders and they enjoy putting on the belts. When they are first introduced to the recorders they get very excited and start to take them out and blow them and the kids love making sound with them even if they sound bad.\r\n\r\nThe next step is getting the students in the classroom and assigning the recorder to the students. The students get the same number recorder as their line order and as a result third grade usually knows their line order best because I dismiss them to get their recorder by number usually. We learn our routine for recorders and practice holding it first. The teacher says \"My left hand is on top\" in a high pitched voice which the kids love seeing an adult do and then the teacher says \"My right hand is on bottom\" in a low voice and it's always fun for the kids to say that in a low voice too. We work on breath control, making a good sound and the finger positions for the recorder too.","fullyFundedDate":1777986591308,"projectUrl":"project/recorder-rock-stars/10230151/","projectTitle":"Recorder Rock-Stars","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Megraw","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10486441"},{"teacherId":4467714,"projectId":10030836,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation for hygiene kits for the 52 5th grade students at Roberto Clemente Elementary Charter School!
