I am very blessed to have such a \"village\" involved to help me help my students! THANK YOU!\r\nI would love to fill you in on how my project went. The school that I work at (Gillingham Charter School) is a title 1 school. This means that many of our students are at or below the poverty level. Many of our families frequent the local food pantries. We have children that truly do not have much.\r\nIn December, our children were going to be off for almost two weeks for winter break. I decided to make bundles out of the donated supplies and send a bundle home with students who needed them for winter break. These bundles included many snacks and food items. Since many of our children receive their breakfasts and lunches from school, I wanted to make sure that they had something to eat while off from school.\r\nI had a few students volunteer to help me pack the goodies and we made over 60 packs! These were then handed out to the children that needed them the day before winter break. The excitement was truly palpable that day! The kids were so happy to be receiving these goodies and were so very thankful. Many came back after winter break to thank me again. I am so thankful for you, because without your donation, I would not have been able to do this for these children!\r\nI appreciate you, beyond words, for your selfless donation. Please know that you made so many children happy that day AND they had food, so their bellies would not be hungry while on break.
