The supplies that we received have allowed students specifically to work on social skills and have enhanced critical thinking and problem solving skills. One specific activity that we used recently was called team writer. The team writer game is a team building activity where 10 mesh strings are attached to a plastic centerpiece where a sharpie is attached in the middle. Each person holds a string and works together as a group to write something with the common sharpie on a piece of paper on the floor. This activity has allowed students to work on communication and collaboration in order to obtain the task. Students learn how to effectively communicate and problem solve by working on clear directions that all students understand.The students did not always experience success in the beginning, however when they effectively communicated and found a system which worked for them it allowed them to gain more success. This specific activity has helped students with self-awareness. This skill can be particularly useful in cooperative learning, where students need to manage frustration, stress, or excitement to work together effectively.\r\n\r\nAnother activity that has increased engagement are two card games. One of them is called taco, cat, goat, cheese, pizza and the other one is called color brain. The students really enjoyed playing both of these activities. It was encouraging to see students smile and laugh with one another. Activities like these two games allow students to feel emotionally supported and can develop strong peer relationships through Social and Emotional practices and they are more likely to be engaged and motivated to learn. Students develop a stronger classroom climate with inclusion and belonging. \r\n\r\nThank you for your financial support so that our students can have meaningful experiences that help them with communication, teamwork, motivation, relationships and social skills. I am very grateful for your kindness.","fullyFundedDate":1733250038086,"projectUrl":"project/social-emotional-learning-opportunitie/8819755/","projectTitle":"Social & Emotional Learning Opportunities","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Forney","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9777594"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_60990","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":472,"numTeachers":33,"percentFrplEligible":52,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":58,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":26,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"14.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":88.5,"schoolId":60990,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Manor Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Manor Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/penn-manor-school-district/manor-middle-school/60990"}
