One memorable classroom moment occurred when students began measuring, cutting, and tying their first blankets together. As they worked, conversations naturally shifted from learning the process to discussing who might receive their blankets and how something they made could bring comfort to someone else. It became more than a classroom activity—it became a meaningful act of service.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate. Many were eager to choose colors, already imagining the finished blankets. Several students commented on how soft the fleece was and expressed pride knowing the supplies were donated specifically to support their work and their community impact. Having access to a clean, organized space and basic supplies helps students feel comfortable and prepared each day. These simple supports reduce stress, promote a sense of stability, and allow students to focus on learning rather than worrying about unmet needs.\r\n\r\nThe emphasis on cleanliness and shared responsibility has also fostered pride and ownership in our classroom. Students actively participate in maintaining their environment, reinforcing teamwork and accountability while earning positive incentives. By meeting students' basic needs and providing a welcoming space, this project supports their well-being and readiness to learn ensuring warmth, care, and consistency so students can engage fully in developing essential personal finance and life skills.","fullyFundedDate":1769023184794,"projectUrl":"project/care-in-the-classroom/10042074/","projectTitle":"Care in the Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ehgartner","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10383208"},{"teacherId":10383208,"projectId":9958877,"letterContent":"This project has had an immediate and meaningful impact on my Personal Finance and Accounting classroom by creating a more organized, efficient, and student-centered learning environment. With a dedicated set of classroom calculators, students now have consistent access to essential tools needed for budgeting, payroll, credit analysis, and accounting calculations. This has reduced interruptions, increased engagement, and allowed students to focus more deeply on real-world financial problem solving.\r\n\r\nThe binders and classroom supplies have also transformed daily instruction. Organized materials help lessons run smoothly and keep students on task, while items like Clorox wipes, Band-Aids, and Kleenex support a clean, safe, and comfortable space for learning. Because of your generosity, our rural classroom is now a cleaner, healthier, more welcoming place where students can focus on learning instead of worrying about basic needs. \r\nMany of our students come to school carrying challenges that go unseen, and a clean, organized environment makes a difference in how they feel each day. The cleaning supplies and storage items you helped provide allow us to maintain hygienic desks, shared materials, and common spaces, reducing the spread of germs and helping keep students healthy and present at school. Fewer absences mean more consistent learning, stronger routines, and a greater sense of stability for our students. When students walk into a space that is orderly, fresh, and well maintained, they feel respected and valued.\r\nYour contributions have also had a profound impact through the provision of healthy snacks, which address one of the most significant barriers to learning: hunger. Many of our students arrive at school without having eaten breakfast or must go long stretches between meals. Hunger affects far more than physical comfort; it impacts concentration, emotional regulation, and behavior. Because of you, we are able to offer nutritious snacks that help students maintain their energy and attention throughout the school day.\r\n\r\nTogether, the clean classroom environment and access to healthy snacks represent something much larger than supplies alone. They show our students that their well-being matters, that they are worthy of care, and that they are supported by a community that believes in their potential.
