Your generosity has made such a meaningful difference in our students' daily learning experience. The resources you provided have helped create a classroom where students have more choices, feel comfortable and supported, and are better able to focus on the important work of learning.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest changes in our classroom has been the addition of our 24 flexible seating stools. My students were so excited when they first saw them! They immediately noticed that we had new seating options and could not wait to try them out. What may seem like a simple stool has made a big difference in how students participate in our classroom. During independent reading, writing, math practice, and small-group activities, students can choose a seat that helps them feel comfortable and ready to learn. I have seen students become more independent as they learn to make responsible choices about where and how they work best.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was watching the students choose their stools and settle in to work. They were excited about having some ownership over their learning environment. We talked about how flexible seating is a privilege and how we need to make choices that help us learn rather than distract us. It has been wonderful to see them practice making those decisions. The stools have become a natural part of our classroom routine, and students understand that the goal is to find a space where they can do their best work.\r\n\r\nThe privacy folders have also been especially helpful. Second graders are still developing their confidence when taking assessments, and it can sometimes be difficult for them to concentrate when they can see what the students around them are doing. The privacy folders give students a quiet, personal workspace during tests and other independent assignments. They help eliminate distractions and allow students to focus on their own thinking. I have noticed that students are more comfortable taking their time and working independently when they have that extra bit of privacy.\r\n\r\nThe fidget stones have been another wonderful addition to our classroom. Some students benefit from having something small and quiet to hold while listening, reading, or working. We have talked about using them appropriately and making sure they help us focus rather than become a distraction. Students have learned that everyone learns differently, and having different tools available can help us all be successful. It has been rewarding to see students recognize what helps them stay focused and make appropriate choices.\r\n\r\nAnd then there is our robot electric pencil sharpener! This has quickly become a classroom favorite. The students were fascinated by it and loved the fun robot design. Something as simple as sharpening a pencil can turn into a distraction in a second-grade classroom, but having a reliable sharpener that works quickly has made it much easier for students to take care of their supplies and get right back to learning. The students especially enjoy seeing the robot in action!\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these resources have helped me create a classroom environment that recognizes that students have different needs and different ways of learning. The stools provide choice and movement, the privacy folders support concentration, the fidget stones provide a quiet focus tool, and the pencil sharpener helps students independently manage their materials. Together, these resources have helped our classroom become a more comfortable, organized, and student-centered place to learn.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue using these resources as we work through our current second-grade lessons. We are building independence in reading, writing, and math, and I want my students to continue learning how to identify what they need to be successful. As we begin new projects and more challenging assignments, students will have opportunities to choose their seating, use their focus tools when appropriate, and practice working independently.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students these opportunities. Your support has gone far beyond providing classroom supplies. You have helped give my students choices, independence, confidence, and tools that allow them to be successful learners. Every day, your generosity is making a difference in our classroom, and I am so grateful that you chose to invest in my students and their education.","fullyFundedDate":1773410043021,"projectUrl":"project/2nd-grade-lifelong-learners/9902944/","projectTitle":"2nd Grade Lifelong Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Pearce","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1164223_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1506281120979","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1164223"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_89069","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":668,"numTeachers":56,"percentFrplEligible":16,"percentAsian":14,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":72,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":7,"gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"11.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":51.6,"schoolId":89069,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Goodnoe Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Goodnoe Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/council-rock-school-district/goodnoe-elementary-school/89069"}
