I observe them go straight to the bins in which I keep everything, and they are so excited knowing that they can calmly be off of their phones dropping the dopamine rush. \r\n\r\nWhen they first saw the materials, they were so excited!! We talked about their purpose and the benefits of being screen free. We now have a system of just getting the fidgets and resources as they need without asking. \r\n\r\nI recently had a guest speaker in to talk about financial literacy and all of the students were able to keep their heads up off of the desks and keep eye contact with her the entire time. My students and colleagues are very intrigued with the idea of using the walking pads. I have had many students use them and many colleagues ask about them. Several students use the walking pad in the morning to read and get moving for the day. The technology is helping my students to understand that movement is important, and that working and reading doesn't have to be sedentary. Movement is stimulating to the brain and body making us more productive.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part is the fact that the students know they are able to make positive changes in their working environment if they need to feel more productive. They also just love working in a space that encourages change and movement. \r\n\r\nI definitely have students who consistently use the walking pads. They have a routine to walk and read or to walk and talk with friends.
