In the past, I would shelve books for students in kindergarten, first, and second grade. The constraints of a 40-minute class period, coupled with alphabetizing to three letters, meant shelving books on their own was often too lofty a goal.\r\n\r\nThe bins have given me the freedom to keep alphabetical order while creating a simpler system for our youngest students. They need only match a small numbered label to the correct color and number on a bin. Students have loved being able to choose books from the shelves AND put them back on their own. If I want to focus on a specific author, I can direct them to the bins more efficiently. \r\n\r\nI am continuing to add labels to illustrate the intact alphabetical order as well as showcase favorite authors' locations! We cannot thank you enough for the impact this small gesture has made and the difference it is making for students!","fullyFundedDate":1783946261427,"projectUrl":"project/clear-binsclearer-choicesclearly-b/10078532/","projectTitle":"Clear Bins...Clearer Choices...Clearly Better Readers!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McCormley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8500835_orig.png?crop=490,490,x0,y122&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1775829855456","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8500835"},{"teacherId":10412708,"projectId":10042641,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity donation to my classroom. These resources have been put to good use. These are being used as snacks for students who do not bring snacks to school. We eat lunch at 10:40. Students then don't get home till 4:00. This leads to many empty bellies. There are a variety of reasons why students in my class may not bring a snack. These students now know that they have a snack ready for them at school. \r\n\r\nThe water bottles are being used for students that forget their water bottle at home or that did not have a water bottle to bring.
