I keep the bookshelf stocked with books and snacks that students can access when they need a little extra support during the school day. It has become a simple way to make my counseling office feel more welcoming and give students access to things they may need without feeling like they have to ask.\r\n\r\nThe puzzle board has been especially helpful for students who need a few minutes to decompress. Students can work on the puzzle while taking a break, calming down, or gathering their thoughts before returning to class or talking with me. I love that it gives them something positive and productive to focus on rather than simply sitting and waiting for a difficult moment to pass. The students were excited to have something new to use in the counseling office, and it has quickly become an activity they look forward to.\r\n\r\nThese resources will continue to be used throughout the school year as part of a safe, supportive space for students.
