Their excitement was immediate, and we jumped right into unboxing and assembling everything—which turned out to be the perfect opportunity for a STEAM lesson. As we worked together to assemble the sand and water table, students practiced reading and following step-by-step directions, identifying and using different tools, and understanding how those tools function in a real-world context. Beyond those skills, they collaborated as a team, communicated effectively, and took turns throughout the process.\r\n\r\nSince introducing the sand and water table into our STEAM classroom, it has become a versatile and engaging learning tool. During Read Across America Week, we incorporated themed, hands-on activities inspired by Dr. Seuss. In another unit, students used the sensory table to explore natural phenomena such as magnetism. Additional themes have included plant-based sensory exploration, composting investigations, and an upcoming recycling-focused activity.\r\n\r\nIt has been incredible to see how this table brings students together and sparks curiosity. Even older students are drawn to the sensory experiences, giving them the opportunity to revisit and reinforce concepts in a meaningful, hands-on way.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, it is greatly appreciated to have much needed supplies like hot glue sticks replenished. Cardboard cutting scissors help tremendously when we are doing hands on projects. Because of your generosity, we were able to STEAM forward with exploration and hands on projects.
