The new hands-on materials have already made a tremendous difference in my Spanish classroom. When everything arrived, my students were immediately excited—especially about the puppets, storytelling cards, and dry erase verb dice. They began using them right away to act out stories, roll verbs to build sentences, and create short skits entirely in Spanish. The room felt alive with creativity, movement, and laughter.\r\n\r\nThe magazine subscription has been especially meaningful for my Spanish 4 students. Instead of reading from a textbook, they now explore authentic articles on topics they care about—current events, culture, entertainment, and more. Recently, students read a shared article and used flip chart paper and sentence strips to create visual summaries, questions, and vocabulary displays. Their confidence and comprehension have grown noticeably.\r\n\r\nWe are continuing to use the journals, flashcard kits, and bingo chips during centers, storytelling, and reading activities. These materials have helped us shift toward a more interactive and student-led learning environment where students communicate, collaborate, and use Spanish in real-world ways.\r\n\r\nNext, students will use the storytelling cards, puppets, and dice to develop longer narratives and mini-performances. Spanish 4 will continue reading and discussing magazine articles as inspiration for cultural inquiry projects.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has brought energy, joy, and authentic communication into our classroom. While my students see the benefits of learning another language, it can often times be intimidating or challenging to converse in the language. Students often fear that they will make a mistake or mispronounce a word. They worry about what others may think. My students have been working hard learning new vocabulary and different tenses to build their language and this project allowed them to practice what they lave learned in a low-stress environment and be excited to use the language. For that, we thank you. \r\n\r\nAs the supplies started coming in, students were getting very excited! They could not wait to set a date to do a café day. Our goal was to replicate the feel that a café has, an environment that is welcoming, open to all, relaxed and perfect for conversation with others! As part of the project, the students and I brainstormed ideas and delegated tasks for each grouping to complete to help set up for our day. Some students organized the snacks and categorized them, making a menu and setting \"prices\" for the snacks. Some students created fake money so that each student could experience a real life setting where they could use the language (Spanish) to make purchases. This also allowed the experience to be equitable with each student receiving the same amount of \"money\" to make \"purchases\". One group created the expectations/rules for café day. Some students worked with me to create ideas for stations with activities that allowed students to use the language that were also interesting to the students. It was very much a collaborative effort, even before the actual day began. \r\n\r\nDuring our café day, students worked together to complete tasks, play games, and do various speaking activities. Students had a lot of fun and asked when we could do it again. Going forward, we would like to implement more speaking activities in that café style. The Teachers Pay Teachers gift card gave us the ability to try new speaking activities. As the year progresses, we will continue to try out more activities and adapt activities to cover new topics throughout the year. \r\n\r\nThank you so very much for giving our kids this opportunity. Your generosity has positively impacted these kids and ultimately our community.
