Your contributions have made a meaningful difference in my high school learning support English classroom by providing students with access to engaging, high-interest texts. With the class set of In the Wild Light by Jeff Zentner, I am developing a structured unit focused on building active reading strategies. This resource will allow students to practice skills such as annotation, questioning, and making connections, all of which are essential for improving reading comprehension. Having a shared text ensures that all students can participate in meaningful discussions and guided instruction, creating a more inclusive and supportive learning environment.\r\n\r\nIn addition to the class novel, the new series added to our classroom library have already begun to spark increased interest in independent reading. Titles such as the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas, the Lightlark Saga by Alex Aster, and We Were Liars and Family of Liars by E. Lockhart provide students with a variety of options that appeal to different interests and reading levels. This variety is especially important for learning support students, as it allows them to select books that feel both accessible and motivating, while still encouraging growth. By having more choice, students are more willing to take risks, read more consistently, and build the stamina necessary for stronger literacy skills.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped create a classroom environment where reading feels both achievable and enjoyable. These resources will continue to support my students not only this year, but in the years to come as I refine instruction and foster a culture of reading. I am truly grateful for your investment in my students' learning and growth.","fullyFundedDate":1764863027783,"projectUrl":"project/revitalizing-readers/9890909/","projectTitle":"Revitalizing Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Shoop","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9018180_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1682638652066","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9018180"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_88787","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":344,"numTeachers":27,"percentFrplEligible":92,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":92,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"12.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.0,"schoolId":88787,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Apollo Ridge High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Apollo Ridge High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/apollo-ridge-school-district/apollo-ridge-high-school/88787"}
