The sensory star in particular has been a calming influence on a student who has special needs. Before, he would often be dysregulated when we started our day, making it challenging for us to concentrate. Now he is able to feel the softness of the star and hear its regulating music resulting in a much more calm learning environment for us all. \r\n\r\nThe weighted stuffed animals are also a highlight for my class. One child in particular was having a challenging time joining the class at the carpet. Now she sits with her peers with the \"carpet bear\" in her lap, knowing that she can only use this friendly stuffy when she is with the class. This simple strategy allows her to access our learning and frees me up to teach. The smaller elephant travels to Specials (PE and music) with her, allowing her to experience success in these environments as well. \r\n\r\nThe Z-Vibe is an exciting addition for our students who are highly impacted with sensory challenges. This tool that our district occupational therapist recommended is allowing multiple children to practice their fine motor skills while meeting their specific developmental needs as well. \r\n\r\nFinally, the noise canceling headphones are a tool that all of our students can utilize when they are feeling overwhelmed. It is such a gift to be able to have 1:1 access for this support. \r\n\r\nAgain, your generous support of my classroom this year truly means a lot to me and my students. Please know that your donation has made a difference in their young lives that they will carry forward as they continue to learn and grow.
