When a student is following directions, completing their work, and helping others, they receive a punch on a card, and when they receive 25 punches, they get to pick a prize from the prize box. \r\nThe squishies, slime, mini animals, and sports balls help us replenish our prize box. We have the same students each year, and it is important to us to add new things each year; these prizes have allowed us to do just that. Since we teach in a small frontier school, we can have the same students from kindergarten through eighth grade. We need to purchase new activities from TPT each year because we have the same students. \r\nOur students love the interactive notebook activities, math games, phonics activities, art projects, and just about anything that we purchase from TPT. \r\nAt the beginning of this school year, we purchased SEL lessons using the books about Molly Lou Mellon and Hooray for Wodney Wat. These were activities we could use with all of our K-8 students, and it was a great way to introduce kindness to our school at the beginning of the year. The snack they receive right after recess is when we do our read-alouds. Our students can sit back and enjoy their snack while listening to a good book read by the teacher. Many of the people who read our newspaper like to receive a paper copy to read. We asked our readers if they would rather have the newspaper come digitally, and only one person responded yes. Neurodiverse students need an opportunity to regulate themselves in a quiet area in the room. Once they are regulated, they join the class again. The books are a great addition to our spring selection. \"I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Clover\" and Shamrock were hits among my younger students. They love all of the \"I Know an Old Lady\" books, and we can read them year-round. My younger students know the pattern of these books and start to repeat after me when I read them. They really feel like they are reading.\r\n\r\nThe stamps will be used for the rest of the school year to mail our March -May school newspapers. Each month, our school sends out a school newspaper to about 100 community and family members. Our students write the articles for the paper, type them, and proofread what they have written. They also fold, label, and put stamps on the paper to send them out. This is the 10th year with our school paper, and the community loves it. Our students enjoy being able to regulate their emotions by taking 5 minutes to work with slime. By having these small containers of slime, students can pick out different slime, and mix in other sensory items like beads, and buttons. It really helps with self-regulation.\r\nThe sensory sand can be used the same way as the slime, but I also use it for my younger students and have them add in buttons, find them and pull them out of the sand. They are able to work on both gross and fine motor skills.\r\nThe spiral notebooks will be used for our interactive notebooks. Currently, we are making an interactive reading notebook as well as a grammar notebook.
