Because of budget cuts and other staffing issues, our students hadn't had access to their school library for the last couple of years and there hadn't been any new books purchased for them since early 2022. Our students were so excited when we were able to re-open our library this school year, but the books we bought back in 2022 were already out of date and we needed new ones to fully get the students excited and engaged with our library.\r\n\r\nThis project has brought some incredibly fun books to these students. These books are so popular with the kids that they are literally flying off the shelves AND kids are waiting in line for their turn to enjoy the books. Seeing the kids excited and them actually checking out books again is a dream come true for all of us.\r\n\r\nOne of the greatest rewards of this project is seeing our Special Ed students coming in the library with their support people and hearing the squeals and seeing the excitement when they find books they can actually read AND want to read! These kids could not access our book collection before this grant because they didn't have the ability to read at the level our collection required. They now have books and they are thrilled--my librarian heart is so happy for them.\r\n\r\nThank you to all the people who supported this project--to know that people chose our project renews my belief that there are amazing people in the world who think of others with a giving heart. You are bringing book joy to so many students for many years to come and the gift of literacy will benefit these students for the rest of their lives.
