Through their participation in Oregon Battle of the Books—and with the necessary resources—students have been empowered to explore a wide variety of texts, helping them take ownership of their reading journey and grow as lifelong learners. Oregon Battle of the Books not only offers students a wide range of diverse texts, but also empowers them with autonomy over their learning. Students engage with the material through physical books, audiobooks, and interactive text-dependent comprehension questions on Quizlet. They then challenge themselves by competing with peers on these questions, fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment. Additionally, students have the opportunity to represent their schools in regional and state battles, advancing through school competitions as they work toward the exciting end-of-year showdowns. So, thank you once again for making diverse reading happen for my students.
