Having access to materials with current events and a variety of topics allows students to be exposed to things that interest them. They love coming in and seeing that we have gotten a new issue and partner reading these magazines is something they look forward to. At the third grade level, reading is something that is so critical and increasing that intrinsic motivation in them makes a dramatic impact. Students that are learning and practicing their English use these topics to practice their speaking skills, and we've even been able to incorporate writing into our day using these as our catalyst. \r\n\r\nEach day I'm watching students increase their skills and practice critical thinking.
