Over the past year or so, the books from this project have made such an impact, and I'm excited to share that impact with you! \r\n\r\nMany of the books that I selected for this project were chosen with specific students in mind. Those students loved and returned those books, and many more students have enjoyed them at this point as well. Some students who had previously felt quite negatively about reading found pleasure in reading the books from this project, and have ventured into other books since then as well. Students who were already voracious readers gladly consumed these books too. Some were introduced to authors that became new favorites! One student was inspired enough to write more, and managed to publish their own writing in a local anthology of student work. In short, these books have spread a love of language all over. They have sparked conversation about literacy, reading for pleasure, and artistic expression through language. \r\n\r\nThese books would never have made it into my students' hands without your support, so I thank you from the bottom of my heart! These days especially, literacy empowers our young people to think for themselves, process the world around them, and understand experiences different from their own.
