Because of your support, my deaf students now have access to books where they can see themselves, their families, and their cultures reflected in the stories. We also added books about deaf children, which has already made a powerful impact. Representation is so important—it helps students feel valued, connected, and inspired. On the very first day of school, I could already see their excitement as they eagerly pulled the new books from the shelves and shared them with their friends.\r\n\r\nYour gift has transformed our classroom into a space where students feel seen and included. The joy and pride they feel while reading these stories is something I will never forget. As the year continues, I'll be teaching them how to write book reports, and I am confident they will choose from these new titles that resonate so deeply with their lives. Thank you for giving my students the chance to see their experiences honored in books—they are truly thrilled to learn and grow through them.","fullyFundedDate":1752270880644,"projectUrl":"project/seeing-ourselves-in-stories-a-library-f/9446165/","projectTitle":"Seeing Ourselves in Stories: A Library for Deaf Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Julie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8922655_orig.jpg?crop=398,398,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1740620425079","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8922655"},{"teacherId":8922655,"projectId":9133780,"letterContent":"Certainly! Here's a two-paragraph thank you note tailored to your classroom and students:\r\n\r\n---\r\n\r\nThank you so much for your generous donation toward math manipulatives for my deaf students. Your support made it possible to provide hands-on tools that offered multiple ways for students to strengthen their counting skills. From colorful counters and number tiles to ten frames and linking cubes, each manipulative gave students the opportunity to see, touch, and visually organize numbers in meaningful ways. These resources supported both visual and kinesthetic learning styles, which are especially important for deaf and hard of hearing learners.\r\n\r\nBy the end of the school year, the growth was remarkable. Students who had struggled to count past two were confidently counting to 20, grouping numbers by tens, and even beginning to explore simple addition and subtraction. The manipulatives allowed for daily practice, play, and problem-solving—all in a way that made math accessible and fun. In our small classroom, space is at a premium, and this stand has already made a big impact by helping us stay organized and focused during science time. What may have seemed like a simple piece of equipment has truly transformed into a central part of our daily learning.\r\n\r\nWhen the stand arrived, it turned into an unexpected engineering lesson! I invited the students to help put it together, and they enthusiastically took on the challenge. Working in small groups, they followed the directions, figured out how the parts fit together, and collaborated to build something we now use every day. It was hands-on problem solving at its best—students were proud to take ownership of the process and learned valuable lessons about patience, persistence, and teamwork.\r\n\r\nNow that it's built, the stand has become a multi-purpose science center. We use the dry-erase board to record science observations and diagrams, and the magnetic side is perfect for displaying new vocabulary words as we learn them. The built-in book stand gives us a place to feature our science-themed big books for read alouds, making it easy for students to engage with the text and visuals. Your support has truly enhanced both the learning and the sense of community in our classroom.
