Our safety team of students make the busy crosswalks a high priority. Their "job" is important, and it's equally as significant to outfit the students with appropriate gear. Portland days can be gray and very chilly, and unfortunately, distracted drivers are a common concern. Replacing tattered flags with large, sturdy, hand-held STOP signs, and providing highly visible equipment will add the extra layer of protection to the students. New equipment would not only help make the students more visible and comfortable, but would also help them recognize how much their effort, responsibility, and commitment is valued. In life, the students recognize organizational teams with their logos and uniforms. This projects sets out to acknowledge the students as a team within our school that is a highly valued asset at maintaining school safety. Even though the main objective of this project is to emphasize safety, the team spirit and pride that will surely occur is invaluable!
