Our class has been focusing on space this module, specially the Apollo 11 mission to the moon. Your donation has made it so all 23 students in my classroom can fully immerse into each book. We read these books together as a whole class, then students break off into pairs to further analyze and reread parts of the story. \r\n\r\nWe also use these books to support our writing! We have been focusing on opinion pieces and using facts to support our opinions. With each student having their own individual book now, they are able to seamlessly find text evidence to support their reasoning. \r\n\r\nMany students are enjoying these books and are even choosing to pick them up again during free reading time! They are fascinated by space and these books help them to generate questions to further their learning. These books are lovely....and third graders LOVE chapter books. They are motivated to read them independently and feel successful when they do.\r\n\r\nThe I Survived and Magic Tree House book sets have been very popular in our classroom to support our exploration of the themes while allowing for student choice and independence. Students read their books over winter break and came back full of ideas for discussions with their classmates, and eager to start their next book.\r\n\r\nThese books add depth and knowledge to our curriculum, helping these topics come alive for our students.
