I have a number of young boys on my caseload who love to play with Hot Wheels and monster trucks. Before our new materials arrived, they mainly raced the cars down the hallway. Now, they work together to build racing tracks and stunts for the cars and trucks. It is so sweet to watch them work together and engage in healthy collaboration. \r\n\r\nBoth my female and male students enjoy playing with the Barbie accessories. We have a large dollhouse in the learning center that occupies the imaginations of many students. These new supplies give them additional ways to \"play house\". \r\n\r\nThese are just a few highlights of ways my students have engaged with and enjoyed the items from the project you helped fund. In addition, they love trying to evade the shark bite, drawing with the yummy smelling markers and playing the bunny hop game. We appreciate your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1742938503357,"projectUrl":"project/spring-refresh/9197169/","projectTitle":"Spring Refresh","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Goodrich","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2005532_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1475696921999","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/saimagoodrich"},{"teacherId":2005532,"projectId":9606919,"letterContent":"The organization of supplies is crucial in the learning center. Every half hour, a new group arrives for intervention and we want to make the best use of our time. For this reason, we appreciate the folders and binders we received in this project. Each group knows which folder or binder to get and the learning is smooth. \r\n\r\nDuring their break time, students love playing in the sand tray. We've had the sand tray for awhile, and over time, sand ends up on the floor. Now our sand tray is full again with soft, soothing beach sand. \r\n\r\nAll of my students appreciate using thinking putty and NeeDoh cubes to help them stay focused. It's amazing how helpful these tools are for students. Along these lines, my students also appreciate their new multiplication charts.\r\n\r\nThank-you for your generosity which enabled us to purchase these supplies.","fullyFundedDate":1755719826187,"projectUrl":"project/lets-refresh-the-classroom/9606919/","projectTitle":"Let’s Refresh the Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Goodrich","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2005532_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1475696921999","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/saimagoodrich"},{"teacherId":1915140,"projectId":9418328,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous contributions. It was such fun to watch them unwrap each package and explore the contents.\r\n\r\nAs you can see from the pictures, my students really enjoy the Duplo amusement park. This STEM activity provides a wonderful context for students to work together. We have a weekly group of students with autism who are working on their social interaction skills. Working together to build the amusement park, the boys were able to practice their perspective taking, flexible thinking and negotiation skills in a real life context. \r\n\r\nOther students have benefitted from the STEM activities where they can work quietly to build something (such as the interlocking STEM toys or building blocks). Occupying their hands with something helps them to change their channel and de-escalate. \r\n\r\nThanks again for your generosity and desire for support my students.","fullyFundedDate":1731525598015,"projectUrl":"project/channeling-student-sensory-needs-into-st/8933510/","projectTitle":"Channeling Student Sensory Needs into STEM Activities","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Goodrich","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2005532_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1475696921999","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/saimagoodrich"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_88215","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":323,"numTeachers":21,"percentFrplEligible":24,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":72,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":82.3,"schoolId":88215,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Capitol Hill Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Capitol Hill Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oregon/portland-public-schools/capitol-hill-elementary-school/88215"}
