In our classroom, reading is more than just sounding out words—it's about building a strong foundation in both English and Spanish. With these books, students are learning essential skills like making predictions, retelling stories, identifying characters and settings, and expanding their vocabulary in two languages. This has been especially powerful for our emergent readers, who are now able to connect words to their everyday lives and share their ideas confidently.\r\nReading in our classroom looks like excitement and discovery! Each day, you'll see small groups of students cuddled up with books, discussing characters, or acting out parts of the story with a partner. You'll also hear two languages flowing beautifully side by side as students help one another understand new words and ideas. These books have made reading an interactive, engaging experience that encourages collaboration and pride in being bilingual.\r\nOne of our students, who was very shy at the start of the year, now rushes to our reading corner every morning to choose his favorite bilingual storybook. Recently, he confidently read a page aloud in Spanish and then explained it in English to his classmates—a moment that filled the whole class with pride and excitement.\r\nYour gift has done so much more than put books in our hands—it has given our students the chance to see themselves as readers, leaders, and lifelong learners. Because of you, they are developing the skills and confidence they need to thrive not just this year, but for years to come.\r\nFrom the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in our students and for doubling the fun in our bilingual classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1745422742472,"projectUrl":"project/doble-de-language-double-the-fun/9238685/","projectTitle":"Doble De Language, Double the Fun!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Susy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3593022_orig.jpg?crop=1736,1737,x331,y15&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1739572455661","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3593022"},{"teacherId":1418401,"projectId":9205140,"letterContent":"We have been in school now for about 3 weeks, and the impact that you have had on our students is HUGE! Our project, \"Empowering Excellence: Enhancing Learning Opportunities for Title I Students,\" is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: when students are given access to the right tools, they can rise to meet their full potential.\r\n\r\nBooks open up new worlds, expand vocabulary in both English and Spanish, and foster a love for stories that reflect students' identities and introduce them to others. In a bilingual classroom, access to rich, age-appropriate texts in both languages is essential for literacy development, academic confidence, and cultural pride.\r\n\r\nSTEM kits allow students to explore science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on problem-solving. Whether they're building bridges, testing circuits, or growing plants from seed, these activities make learning exciting and real. They help students see themselves as thinkers, inventors, and future innovators—skills that are crucial for the world they're growing up in.\r\n\r\nThis project doesn't just support learning—it inspires it.
