These supplies have already come in handy in ways both big and small. On the very first day of school, some of my students were surprised by how late our lunch period was, and the snacks from this project helped make sure they weren't learning on empty stomachs. Having snacks available helps me support my students' needs so they can feel comfortable, cared for, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThe markers and chart paper have also proven to be lifesavers! We recently experienced a full day without internet, which meant I couldn't access any of my usual slides or digital materials. Instead of letting technology troubles derail our learning, we grabbed the chart paper and markers and kept going. It was a great reminder that some of our most useful classroom tools are the simplest ones. And, as the school year gets underway, we've already encountered our first round of sickness, so the Clorox wipes are getting plenty of use to help keep our classroom clean and healthy.\r\n\r\nYour support helps me create a classroom where students have what they need to learn, grow, and feel cared for. I currently have an advanced literature circle meeting daily, where students are reading the titles, discussing characters and plot details, sharing their thinking, and preparing for the trivia competition. It has been wonderful to see students engage with books in a way that feels exciting, purposeful, and collaborative.\r\n\r\nThe impact of this project has reached beyond my own classroom, too! My enthusiasm for Oregon Battle of the Books has inspired other teachers to begin forming teams and encouraging their students to read the titles as well.
