Color ink is essential for teaching English Language Learners parts of speech. We use the printer to print out color coded sentence patterns which help with both oral and written production of English. \r\n\r\nYour donation not only helps my class, but my teammates students as well. There are three certified teachers and one assistant in our department and we share the color printer and ink. We serve between 170-185 students in a given school year, so your impact is great. \r\n\r\nIt is quite interesting and impactful how many more students are successful with writing when they have a copy provided to them at their table, versus trying to copy from the small screen where we present our teaching slides. We place the color copies in plastic sleeves so we can use them year after year and so that the students can use dry erase markers to mark them up, which yields higher engagement and participation. We so appreciate your help in providing us ink this year. Our new books bins are sturdy and uniform, which helps them to fit nicely on the bookshelf and makes it easier for students to carry and manage books without adult assistance.\r\nWe use the clear bags daily for our literacy materials. Each bag holds a personal whiteboard, dry erase marker, and eraser. Students know the procedure for getting the materials to their desk, cleaning up after literacy, and returning the materials to their storage box. Because all of the bags are the same, there is no arguing over colors and each student is able to focus on learning.\r\nThe small brushes and dustpans are used when we clean up at the end of the day. The students have enjoyed being able to clean up crumbs, eraser shavings, scraps of paper, and the like with child-sized tools. This rug has instantly become the favorite part of our classroom. My Kinder-5th grade students were so excited to see the bright new rug on our first day of groups. They love how soft and plush it is, and can't help but run their hands over it during our lessons! We now use our new rug daily for whole group lessons, oral language practice, and additional comfy work space.\r\nThanks to your support, we finally have a comfortable, clean, and inviting space to sit together as a community of scholars. Seeing the kids eagerly find a spot on the rug to learn and collaborate is a joy. The printer is housed in the front office so our whole staff is able to use it to print incentives for specific students who meet their attendance and/or a behavioral goal. \r\nI have used it with a student who struggles with basic emotional regulation. He has chosen a fidget spinner and a cone shaped fidget. He knows what he is working for in my group and what it will take for him to earn them. It has helped me engage him more than before. He likes the idea that we printed it at school and it is something he can earn and take home. \r\n\r\nThe secretaries have printed a few items to use with students who remain after school when their adults run late at pick up.
