Having mechanical pencils for my students has helped keep my classroom quieter and more on-task. Not having kids lined up at the pencil sharpener and chatting while waiting for others to sharpen their pencil has been a game changer. It's also a lot less messy... I don't have to empty the pencil sharpener constantly and listen to the grinding noise all day, long of the sharpener. It sounds like a little thing, but it actually makes a really big difference. The kids are hard at work and not standing up and waiting in line for other students which gives them more time working and focusing on assignments..","fullyFundedDate":1723513174806,"projectUrl":"project/say-no-to-annoying-pencil-sharpeners/8634064/","projectTitle":"Say No to Annoying Pencil Sharpeners!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Herron","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9474831"},{"teacherId":9808488,"projectId":8932761,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting our efforts in learning about worms and their incredible composting and earth-making skills. We have been having so much fun!\r\n\r\nThe fun, however, has not stopped with just this classroom. We have been finding a great deal of joy in sharing our worms with other 5th grade classes, as well as our 2nd grade study-buddies. Just last week we did a close observation of the worms with our 2nd grade friends. We looked at the worms under magnifying glasses, sketched what we saw, then labeled some of the parts of an earthworm. You should have heard the giggles and conversations as they held, observed, and sketched these little critters.\r\n\r\nThank you for donating some of your hard-earned money into our classroom. We are composting some of our food waste, watching our worms multiply, and looking forward to using some of the material they are creating in our seed planting in the spring.","fullyFundedDate":1731540126147,"projectUrl":"project/composting-kids-need-working-worms/8932761/","projectTitle":"Composting Kids Need Working Worms","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Opsal","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9808488_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1729995740009","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9808488"},{"teacherId":9808488,"projectId":8889831,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting our classroom. The students and I appreciate your kindness and generosity.\r\n\r\nThe students are enjoying having their own keyboards. We are a one to one school when it comes to iPads, but NOT keyboards. In the past, we have had a few keyboards to share amongst all students. Having their own keyboards makes them feel important. They are becoming more quick with their typing skills, having an actual keyboard to practice with each and every time. This, in turn, allows their thoughts and creativity to flow much more freely. Bonus with these boards; they each came with a blue tooth mouse, which they love just as much as the keyboards.\r\n\r\nThanks again for choosing education as a place to put some of your hard-earned money.
