In April and May, my students planted, watered, and watched things grow right in front of them — strengthening fine motor skills, practicing multi-step directions, building new vocabulary, and measuring soil, counting seeds, and tracking growth like real scientists.\r\nOur student especially enjoyed the numerous different seeds to choose from and some even planted more than one type of seed in their pots. They were very excited to watch their plants grow and be able to take them home to share with family.\r\nThese materials did more than teach about plants. Each student took ownership of their own plant — building responsibility, confidence, and patience as they cared for something over time. The Planting a Rainbow Big Book helped us connect what we saw in real life to what we read, supporting reading comprehension and our classroom discussions. For students who learn in unique ways and often need extra encouragement, this kind of hands-on, sensory-friendly learning made concepts stick in a way worksheets never could.\r\nOn behalf of my students and me, thank you for investing in our students. Having the appropriate tools that are needed for students to be successful makes a world of difference. When a student asks for a notebook because they forgot to bring theirs, it matters that I can give them a new one without it having to be a big deal, or them having to feel guilt or shame because they came to school without the tools that are needed.
