Because of your kindness, we were able to purchase music stands, guitar strings, and tuners—resources that have allowed us to launch this exciting new program at our residential school. Electives are rare in our high school setting, so this class has been a welcome and joyful addition for our students.\r\n\r\nOur group is still small—just ten students so far—but they are off to a wonderful start and absolutely loving it. We're focusing on the basics: how to hold and strum the guitar, read chord charts and tablature, tune the instrument, and even change strings. Watching students gain confidence with each new skill has been inspiring. Although I can't share photos due to our medical facility's privacy rules, please know that the room is full of enthusiasm and the sound of progress!\r\n\r\nHere is a quick thank your from our Principal:\r\nThank You from Long Term Care & Treatment Schools\r\nWhen the guitars and music supplies arrived, our students' faces lit up with pure joy. Many of our youth are in treatment and healing from trauma, and for some, this was their first time holding an instrument of their own. One student and myself as the Principal quietly said, \"I've never had something like this before.\"\r\n\r\nSince then, the guitars have become part of daily life as part of their school and treatment experience. Students use them to help stay calm and focused. They help them experience their journeys of growth and resilience through practicing a skill with safe adults. Music has given them a new way to express themselves, regulate emotions, and build confidence.\r\n\r\nTo our donors: thank you for helping our students find their rhythm again. You didn't just give guitar supplies—you gave them hope, connection, and a voice.\r\n\r\n— Alex Nalivaiko, Principal, Long Term Care & Treatment Programs\r\n\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, this program now has a strong foundation to keep going for future students. The guitar is a lifelong instrument—portable, affordable, and rewarding to play. With these tools and access to online lessons, our students can continue learning and growing far beyond the classroom. Your gift has opened the door to creativity, confidence, and a lasting love of music.","fullyFundedDate":1752586516574,"projectUrl":"project/learning-to-play-the-guitar/9328505/","projectTitle":"Learning to Play the Guitar","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Powers","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6966353"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_123532","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":25,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":47,"percentAsian":8,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":78,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"US Census Data for the surrounding geographic area","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"Census ZCTA","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":123532,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Farm Home School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Farm Home School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oregon/-county-run-/farm-home-school/123532"}
