Thank you so much for your generous contributions to our learning and creative processes. The materials and supplies you help fund are being put to fun and efficient use. With the broadened horizons of new capabilities in our classroom, my students may now have more means to create projects that are a hands-on experience in learning our academic standards of level appropriate art making, history, and theory practices. Concepts such as, but not limited to, shape, form, color, design, repetition, and rhythm may be combined with lessons about socio-political messaging, communication, fashion, culture, and more! This incredible gift has had a profound impact on our students, allowing them to bring their ideas to life in ways we never thought possible. The printer has opened up new avenues for creativity and innovation, enabling students to design and create custom parts for their robots, enhancing both their understanding and application of engineering principles.\r\n\r\nBeyond the technical skills, the 3D printer has fostered a sense of ownership and pride in our students. They are now able to physically see their designs come to life, making their learning experience more engaging and rewarding. The process of designing, testing, and iterating has helped students develop critical problem-solving and collaboration skills, which will serve them well in both their academic and future professional careers.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, our robotics program has seen a noticeable increase in student engagement and success. We are able to offer them hands-on experiences that make abstract concepts more tangible, and we've witnessed a boost in their confidence and enthusiasm for STEM. Your donation has made an immeasurable difference, and we are excited to continue building upon this foundation for years to come. I wanted to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for the incredible experience you helped provide through \"The Big Brain Theory\" project. Initially ,many of my students were skeptical about the idea of even dissecting a worm, much less a sheep brain! But thanks to your donation and support, they not only embraced the challenge, they thrived in it.\r\nThe students were particularly fascinated with the Dura Mater which covers the brain, and the intricate technique required to remove it. Their enthusiasm was evident as they proudly crafted their own flag labels using toothpicks and construction paper to mark the different parts of the brain. As you can see from the pictures, they transformed into a group of proud, budding scientists, eager to explore and discover.\r\nFor me, the most rewarding moment is when a student recognized a part or section of the brain and lights up with excitement at finding it in real life. It's those \"Aha\" moments that make all the difference in their learning journey. On behalf of the entire class, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for providing an experience that will undoubtedly remain with them for a lifetime.","fullyFundedDate":1726900614716,"projectUrl":"project/the-big-brain-theory/8745500/","projectTitle":"The Big Brain Theory!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Thompson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5005128_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755299773946","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5005128"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_87075","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":389,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":91,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":23,"percentWhite":11,"percentIndigenous":3,"percentLatinx":47,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"12.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":59.4,"schoolId":87075,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Western Heights Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Western Heights Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oklahoma/western-heights-school-district-i-41/western-heights-middle-school/87075"}
