We are using the snacks during small-group instruction and independent work time, especially in the afternoon when students' energy tends to drop. One specific moment that stood out was during a reading intervention group. Students were able to quietly enjoy a snack while practicing fluency, and I noticed they stayed more focused, engaged longer, and were less distracted. Having their basic needs met allowed them to concentrate more fully on learning and gave our classroom a calm, supported environment.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the snacks, their faces lit up with excitement and gratitude. Many of them immediately asked who provided them, and they were so thankful to know that people cared about their learning and well-being. It made them feel special and supported. Our next steps include continuing to use the snacks to support sustained focus during our reading and writing projects, especially as we work on longer independent assignments and small-group skill building. This support helps create consistency, improves student stamina, and allows them to fully participate in lessons without distraction.
