I have been building my library for several years. As a widow, funds are quite limited, so I often rely on donors like you to help. Although our small school has a library, the books are not current and they are often falling apart. I set out to build my library to encourage my students to read. Because of your donation, my students have excellent books that look interesting and will entice them to read. I have not personally read any of them, but I am looking forward to it. As you probably know, teachers are super busy and reading for pleasure is a luxury. \r\n\r\nThe library cart is such an amazing resource as well. I am able to select books for my students and showcase them. I can also use the cart to reshelf books that have been turned in. I believe that a student should have the option to change books as often as needed to encourage them to find that one book that will hold his or her attention. Unfortunately, that means a lot of books that need to be put back on the shelves. (I keep my books organized so that I can locate a certain book when a student needs a recommendation.) The cart is a tremendous help! \r\n\r\nYour donation means the world to me!","fullyFundedDate":1757518848918,"projectUrl":"project/from-shelf-to-self-books-that-travel-wi/9674614/","projectTitle":"From Shelf to Self: Books That Travel With Us","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Childs","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10237610"},{"teacherId":9562410,"projectId":9655871,"letterContent":"When my students first saw the new phonics tools and decodable books, they were curious and eager to explore them. Many of these resources match their reading levels and interests, which has helped make reading practice more accessible and engaging. One student remarked how the books were easier to read than other materials, which gave them confidence to try new words and sentences.\r\n\r\nWe've been using the phonics kits in small groups to practice decoding and spelling patterns, while the decodable chapter books and nonfiction sets are now part of our daily reading rotations. The life-skills lessons have helped students apply literacy to everyday situations, such as reading directions or following schedules. Seeing them use these materials independently has made it easier to provide targeted support for each student.\r\n\r\nNext, we plan to continue building fluency and comprehension through more structured reading activities and discussion of the texts. These materials have helped my students engage with reading in a way that feels achievable and meaningful, and they are continuing to make steady progress.","fullyFundedDate":1757518849761,"projectUrl":"project/building-reading-confidence-for-middle-s/9655871/","projectTitle":"Building Reading Confidence for Middle School Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Talley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9562410_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1717575877120","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9562410"},{"teacherId":9562410,"projectId":9509031,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, my classroom has been transformed into a space where students can focus, regulate their emotions, and engage more fully in learning. The flexible seating, sensory cushions, fidget tools, and calming lights are now an essential part of our daily routines. For example, during reading groups, students who struggle to sit still are able to use wiggle seats or balance balls to stay focused, which has made our discussions more lively and meaningful. Other students have found comfort and calm using the jellyfish lamp or weighted lap blankets during independent work or transitions between tasks.\r\n\r\nWhen we first unpacked the materials, the students' excitement was palpable! They immediately began experimenting with the tools, testing out different seating options, and discovering which sensory supports helped them feel ready to learn. It has been amazing to watch them gain independence in managing their own needs and making choices that help them succeed.\r\n\r\nNext, we plan to integrate these supports into upcoming projects, such as our interactive reading stations and group problem-solving activities. Students will continue to use the tools to help regulate their focus and emotions, allowing them to participate fully and confidently. Your support has not only provided resources, but it has given my students the chance to learn in a way that celebrates their unique needs and strengths.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and helping create a classroom where every learner can thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1757518850077,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-tools-for-focused-learning-in-s/9509031/","projectTitle":"Flexible Tools for Focused Learning in Special Education","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Talley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9562410_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1717575877120","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9562410"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_123509","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":60,"numTeachers":4,"percentFrplEligible":42,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":75,"percentIndigenous":4,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":10,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"15.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":50.0,"schoolId":123509,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Thackerville Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Thackerville Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oklahoma/thackerville-public-schools/thackerville-middle-school/123509"}
