On rainy days, instead of hearing groans, my students now eagerly choose from a variety of games and activities that keep their minds engaged and their spirits high. One of my favorite moments was watching a group of students work together to build and problem-solve during a game—encouraging each other, taking turns, and celebrating their success. These materials have given my students meaningful opportunities to practice teamwork, communication, and critical thinking through play, which research shows are essential skills developed during collaborative games and activities.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement in the room was incredible. Students' eyes lit up as they explored the new options, and they immediately began asking to try everything. Even students who are usually more reserved found ways to participate and connect with their peers. I've noticed fewer conflicts and more cooperation during recess time, and students are returning to class more focused and ready to learn. What was once a challenging part of the day has now become something they truly look forward to.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we are continuing to build on these positive experiences by incorporating these materials into small group activities and classroom community-building lessons. Students are learning to take ownership of the materials, create their own games, and even teach their classmates new ways to play. These next steps will help deepen their social-emotional skills while reinforcing a positive classroom environment. Thank you for making rainy days brighter and helping my students grow not just academically, but socially and emotionally as well.","fullyFundedDate":1757603939529,"projectUrl":"project/rainy-days-bright-minds-indoor-recess/9362638/","projectTitle":"Rainy Days, Bright Minds: Indoor Recess Fun!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Harper","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8312235_orig.jpg?crop=640,640,x0,y91&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1644012529049","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8312235"},{"teacherId":10005407,"projectId":9279280,"letterContent":"The supplies we received have made such a positive impact in our classroom! My students have been using the crayons, markers, and crafting paper on a daily basis to complete assignments, create projects, and express their creativity. Many of my students do not have their own supplies at home, so having access to these materials in class has allowed everyone to participate equally and feel proud of their work. The colored and construction paper have already been used for multiple hands-on learning activities, including interactive games and STEM projects, adding excitement and engagement to our lessons.\r\n\r\nWe are so incredibly thankful for the generosity of those who helped meet the basic needs of our classroom this year.
