The Tiger Tech Readers & Leaders project has provided my middle and high school students with the opportunity to share their passion for science and technology with younger learners by reading aloud books that highlight engineering, invention, and curiosity. These experiences have helped our older students grow as mentors and communicators while inspiring elementary students to see themselves as future innovators.\r\n\r\nWhen our Robotics and STEM students visit elementary classrooms, reading takes on a new purpose. They connect each story to real-world applications, helping younger students imagine what it is like to build, code, and create. The books you helped fund have encouraged meaningful discussions about teamwork, problem solving, and perseverance: skills that directly align with the practices my students develop in STEM and robotics.\r\n\r\nThis project has strengthened the connection between our older and younger students while fostering a culture of curiosity and leadership within our school community. The moment the drones arrived, my students' eyes lit up with curiosity and excitement. Many of them had never even seen a drone in person before, much less flown one. That first day, we unpacked the kits together, and the classroom buzzed with energy as students quickly began exploring how drones work, learning the buttons on the remote control, and mastering the basics of flight indoors. It was a powerful moment of discovery—students who usually shy away from participation stepped forward with confidence, eager to try something new.\r\n\r\nWe are now using these drones as part of our STEM unit on engineering design and coding. One group recently created a 3D print file to help hold plastic tubing for an easy assembly obstacle course. Some students made a make-shift obstacle course using classroom chairs and hula hoops—after many failed (and funny!) attempts, they finally succeeded, and the cheer that went up was unforgettable. More importantly, students are beginning to grasp key concepts in physics, aerodynamics, and teamwork. Next, we're designing our very own indoor drone challenges based on real-world missions like search and rescue or agricultural monitoring, tying in local relevance and problem-solving. Your donation didn't just provide tools—it opened doors to careers, sparked engagement, and showed my students they are capable of incredible things.
