They immediately wanted to learn all about electricity, and were excited about the many projects available. We started out by learning about conductors and insulators and parallel and series circuits and then moved on to bigger projects with the Snap Circuit Home kits. \r\nThese hands-on kits really helped my students understand electricity and circuit concepts. For example, one group was troubleshooting their project, and a student said, \"I know what's wrong! This part of the circuit isn't closed so electricity isn't traveling through. That's why nothing is working because if one part is open then the entire circuit doesn't work.\" They closed their circuit, and then their project worked! Students also really enjoyed making parallel circuits and seeing how many different components they could add - especially with the home kits! \r\nEven though we work on different units throughout the year, we still use these kits weekly! The kids beg to use them again, and they are a wonderful way to encourage creative thinking and problem-solving skills. They will get used again many times during the electricity unit as the years go on, but they are also getting used often as a creative brain-break activity. I've also heard from many parents that their child has asked for Snap Circuit kits for Christmas.
