Our classroom is a self-contained classroom for students with severe and profound/multiple disabilities. This means we have all our instructional time in the same classroom, we eat lunch together and we have leisure time together! My students do enjoy attending specials with their typically developing peers. Due to the nature of our classroom my students vary widely in terms of academics. Each student is an amazing and unique person that learns in their own special way! As a special education teacher, my job is to accommodate my students diverse learning needs to the fullest extent possible. Some students need physical prompting to complete their work, some students need a quiet space to feel calm, and some students need less stimulation to focus on their academic and life skills tasks.
