Your donations have made a huge impact on the quality of my room this year! I moved from Tulsa to Mannford Public schools and I switched from Kindergarten to second grade. It was so nice to open the new packages this summer and not have to go into debt to provide some amazing decorations and cozy corner items to my classroom. The kids love the the cozy corner canopy so much! It's a great place to go when they need a place to hide by themselves and calm down. It's also a great place to just relax and read a book. The kids love the decorations and bullitin board items you provided. I actually had a news team cover a story about how my room was so cozy for the kids and had so much nature incorporated into it. I told them I wanted a room that brought nature into the learning environment and brought natural inspiration to the students. All of this would not have happened without your help. With the tents from you donors, my kiddos can really zone into their reading.\r\n\r\nThey've told me they love it, and the time goes so fast. Whether reading independently or with a partner, my students could really jump into whatever adventure awaits in their books.\r\n\r\nWith all the technology available, we are creating a shorter attention span. Being from a low income area, though, my kids are not read to as much and exposed to as much as those in a higher income area might be.\r\n\r\nMy kiddos work just as hard if not harder than everybody else to catch on when it comes to reading. I am an at risk reading specialist teacher, as well as the librarian for my school. I teach first or second or third grade readers, wherever I'm needed.\r\n\r\nMy kiddos work hard and sometimes they hardly know they're working. These games are fun as well as educational. The books with few words per page don't overwhelm them. The workbooks with lower level words make them feel successful.\r\n\r\nIn the past, I've borrowed resources from the grades below my students. But these students have seen these resources in previous grades and they just didn't work for them. These new resources give them something different to focus on and can help target exactly where the reading need is.
