The personal care items like deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and period kits are available in the bathrooms for anyone who needs them. One student came to me and shared that she had run out of deodorant and was so thankful we had extras available. She told me she had asked her mom several times to buy more, but her mom couldn't afford it. She said having deodorant at school helps ease her mind and gives her confidence because she doesn't have to worry about smelling bad or being embarrassed anymore. That moment really showed me how important these items are for our students' well-being.\r\n\r\nThe girls also love the hair ties and clips — they were a huge hit and definitely a hot commodity! The snacks have been a great resource for students who come to school hungry or just need a little something to get through the day. It's heartwarming to see that they're always respectful and only take what they need.\r\n\r\nOur janitors help restock the period kits in the bathrooms, and now our girls never have to worry about being unprepared. Before this project, they often had to call home or ask teachers for supplies, but now they can take care of their needs privately and comfortably.\r\nWhen my students first saw everything, they were so excited. Many of them said they couldn't believe we had things like deodorant, toothpaste, and hair accessories available at school — items their families sometimes can't afford. We actually ran out of deodorant in the second month because everyone was using it! I noticed right away that I haven't smelled a single student with body odor since then, which is honestly a big change. The snacks were also a hit, especially for students who might not always have enough to eat at home.\r\n\r\nOverall, the excitement and gratitude from the students were overwhelming. These essentials might seem small, but to our students, they've made a world of difference.","fullyFundedDate":1754940881548,"projectUrl":"project/low-income-native-american-students-need/9536553/","projectTitle":"Low-Income Native American Students Need Hygiene Products","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ulloa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9190731_orig.jpg?crop=288,288,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1692197971262","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9190731"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_86435","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":190,"numTeachers":5,"percentFrplEligible":78,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":11,"percentWhite":35,"percentIndigenous":46,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"38.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":25.0,"schoolId":86435,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Indiahoma School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Indiahoma School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oklahoma/indiahoma-school-district-2/indiahoma-school/86435"}
