My students were excited to return to school and see how the classroom had changed. Their eyes and bodies were drawn to all of the new tools in the corner for helping them regain their focus. \r\n The gaming chair is popular to sit and relax with a fidget, book, or coloring page while gaining control of their emotions. The fidgets are the most popular thing in the calming corner. Most of my ADHD students just enjoying having something to play with while they're doing their work. Keeping their hands busy helps to keep their mind focused and on task. \r\n Another aspect of the calming corner that's been very beneficial is the calming kit. There are many different breathing and active exercises that the class can do as a group or individuals can do alone to help get them back focused and on task. Hopefully, these they'll be able to carry these skills throughout their schooling in all their classes and lives. We can't thank you enough for allowing us to have these tools to help keep us focused during our school year.","fullyFundedDate":1747159056342,"projectUrl":"project/keep-calm-and-carry-on/9151857/","projectTitle":"Keep Calm and Carry On!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Holland","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9848955_orig.jpg?crop=2817,2817,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1741705038313","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9848955"},{"teacherId":9848955,"projectId":9151826,"letterContent":"My students and I can't thank you enough for your generosity. In these times of uncertainty, having individuals who go above and beyond to support education is a blessing especially support of special education students whose needs seems to be the first being pushed to the wayside. These wiggle stools meet a great need for the majority of my students which is the ability to focus.\r\n\r\nThese stools arrived at just the right time, on the second day of state testing. My students were able to put them to great use right away. They were so excited and surprised when they came in the room for testing and saw bright colored brand new stools. Many made the decision to sit on these instead of a regular chair when taking their test. Students were able to move around, stay awake, and concentrate on the task at hand. For the majority of them, the stools were a valuable tool and helped them become successful. They seemed to try their best, and I can't wait to see the results!\r\n\r\nAgain, thank you for filling a niche that aids my students in becoming the best version of themselves. They couldn't wait to use them in math class. They were able to put them to good use right away as we're prepping for our state test that begins this week. \r\n\r\nThe first assignment they had was practicing making a line graph. Having the dry erase coordinate grids made it so much easier and fun for them. They loved having the colorful markers and erasers too so if they made mistakes it was easy to correct. \r\nSince we already had the supplies out to do our math, we decided that would be the best way to make thank-you notes too. They really enjoyed getting to be creative with the markers and loved having their pictures taken because they were so proud of their work and so thankful to have something new to share it. \r\n\r\nSince my students are special education, they will stay with me for several years and will be able to continue to benefit from these resources. Having tools to lean on as they become more self confident is invaluable.
