These binders are not just folders — they are living portfolios where students track academic goals, reflect on their habits, monitor their data, and celebrate their growth. Each week, students update their reading and math data, write personal and academic goals, and reflect on how they are practicing the 7 Habits in real life. During student-led conversations, they proudly flip through their binders to explain their progress, challenges, and next steps. The ownership they feel is incredible.\r\n\r\nWhen the binders first arrived, students were genuinely excited. They carefully set them up, personalized sections, and immediately began asking when they could add their first goals. One student said, \"This makes me feel like the leader of my learning.\" That moment said it all. Instead of waiting for adults to tell them how they are doing, students now know their numbers, understand their strengths, and can articulate what they are working on improving.\r\n\r\nNext, we will continue using our binders during leadership check-ins and student-led conferences. Students are learning to set SMART goals, track their academic growth, and reflect on their leadership skills both inside and outside the classroom. Your support has helped us move from teacher-driven conversations to student-driven ownership. They were so excited when they saw them. From day one they have been working together to see what they can build. They have made houses, tunnels and towers. At Christmas time they decorated their buildings with giant jingle bells (since they are metal and will stick to the magnets). They figured out they could lay down and build a tunnel around someone. They figured out they can stand up and build a tower around someone. They have made a castle for their Frozen character dolls and also a home for our penguin plush. \r\nThe magna tiles have become a staple center in our room for daily use and I am so thankful for your generosity in donating to make this project possible for my classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1763411206424,"projectUrl":"project/lets-build-community/9635020/","projectTitle":"Let’s Build Community","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lee","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5627726"},{"teacherId":2934954,"projectId":8527604,"letterContent":"First, I apologize for a delayed response. I really appreciated the support for my students. I was able to create a more hands on experience for my students and they were able to be more engaged in their learning. The kids LOVE the fun dice poppers, and we've been able to use them with math and phonics games, as well as board games for free time and indoor recess. These dice poppers have saved this teacher's sanity--I don't have to hear dice tumbling over desktops or see the dice flying across the room (second graders don't have the best control with lose dice!). The poppers have helped maintain more order and quiet in our room while adding to our fun. The binder rings are an essential component to a rewards system we've used in our class. Students can earn \"brag tags\" for many things, including responsible behavior, academic achievements, holiday fun, helping in the classroom--anything that deserves recognition and reward. Currently we're improving math fluency with a program called \"Kicking It Math\". It plays on a karate theme and kids earn karate \"belts\" for passing sets of math facts. The karate \"belts\" are actually tags that the kids wear around their necks, courtesy of lanyards and the colorful binder rings that were funded as part of this project. The amazing balance set has also brought a lot of fun to our math lessons, and kids can easily see the concept of comparison (greater than, less than, equal to) with the cute frog and his hungry mouth. The kids laugh at this goofy guy while practicing an essential math skill. The electronic whistle helps so much with wrangling the kids in from the playground. We have a very large playground and they weren't able to hear teachers call them in from recess. There's no mistaking the piercing whistle--and it's saved my voice! And the printer ink has been so essential to keeping our classroom running smoothly. It allows me to print quick worksheets or make an extra copy on the spot, instead of leaving my classroom to go to the communal printer downstairs or on the other side of the school. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for valuing my kids and their education. As part of a Title 1 school, they don't always feel important or noticed. But when we receive items from projects like this, I explain to them how wonderful our donors are and how much these donors value each of the kids and their futures. We really appreciate the time you took to read and consider our project, and the generous donation you made to our classroom.
