Your donation has made such an impact on my students who's parents are not financially able to purchase those tools. \r\n\r\nIn my class, my students keep a three ring binder with dividers, a pencil pouch and extra notebook paper. At the beginning of the year, I help them set it up to maximize efficiency, and to help them keep track of the notes, assignments and graded papers they will have for their ELA/Reading classes. \r\n\r\nI have learned that setting middle schoolers up with an attainable way to organize, as well as helping them stay organized, makes more successful student. Since starting this system even the high school teachers have commented on the students increased ability to manage time, paperwork, and school work more effectively. \r\n\r\nMiddle school is when children are learning to be more independent and solidifying their executive functioning skills. I believe that this small binder makes a huge impact on their overall success as a student, and ultimately an employable adult.","fullyFundedDate":1768508980419,"projectUrl":"project/blueprints-for-success-helping-middle-s/9957545/","projectTitle":"Blueprints for Success: Helping Middle Schoolers Get Organized!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bryen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9889512_orig.jpg?crop=3744,3744,x0,y636&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1736372214386","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrsbryen"},{"teacherId":9889512,"projectId":9894929,"letterContent":"Thank you, thank you, thank you! This gift has been such a fun learning and community building opportunity! \r\n\r\nMy plan was to use the copies of books to have \"in class\" book clubs. I had seen other teachers online use this strategy but was apprehensive to use it in my own classroom. \"Will they enjoy the books?\" \"Are they going to be at the appropriate level for all of my readers?\" \"Is this going to cause mass chaos?\" These were all questions I asked myself before starting this journey. I am so thankful for your gift, because it has turned into one of the greatest teaching experience I have had to date.\r\n\r\nThe students loved getting to pick which book stood out to them, and because of that choice they were a lot more invested in the reading. When it came time for their \"book clubs\" to meet I saw so much social emotional learning as the students debated, discussed and learned together. \r\n\r\nI saw outspoken kids learn to quiet themselves and implore the more reserved students to speak. I saw students who are self professed \"non-readers\" become invested so they could contribute during their group discussions. The most heartwarming was the connection and empathy my students had with the characters in the books.\r\n\r\nI have not been able to use The Christmas Carol yet but after teaching it from a downloaded version, I am so excited to have physical bound books for the students to follow along with. \r\n\r\nAgain, thank you for your contribution to the young people in my classroom. They are becoming smarter, kinder and all around better citizens because of you.","fullyFundedDate":1765160560626,"projectUrl":"project/voices-choices-and-classics-empowerin/9894929/","projectTitle":"Voices, Choices, and Classics: Empowering Readers in Every Way","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bryen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9889512_orig.jpg?crop=3744,3744,x0,y636&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1736372214386","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrsbryen"},{"teacherId":9889512,"projectId":9780610,"letterContent":"I want to express my deepest gratitude for your generosity towards my classroom. This set of books and materials has truly opened a whole new world of reading for many of my students. \r\n\r\nThe graphic novels has been a game changer for reluctant readers and those readers who struggle to visualize the world created by books. I have been able to pair traditional novels with their graphic novel to give students and anchor for those visuals. I have also been able to introduce some of the classics to students when the traditional novel is beyond their comprehension. \r\n\r\nThe biographies have been a huge hit with my students who crave more \"real life\" stories. They have connected with the people in the biographies and been inspired by their stories. \r\n\r\nLastly, the contact paper has been a game changer for keeping books in excellent shape while they are living their lives being carried around in binders and backpacks by middle schoolers. In the past I would spend a hour trying to find worksheets online to access and print off. I am saving so much time and love the quality of these workbooks. \r\n\r\nMy student council students loved that poster board was provided to them because we are decorating the halls in the upcoming weeks and instead of them having to go out and buy them, they get to just use these. They are also loving the sticky dots they get to use to hang up the posters instead of tape that falls off the walls everyday! \r\n\r\nBoth the students and myself are so grateful and feeling blessed by this donation. As a second-year middle school ELA and reading teacher, I'm always on the lookout for ways to help my students express themselves with confidence, clarity, and creativity—and thanks to you, we now have the tools to do just that.\r\n\r\nYour support brought two major wins to our classroom: a full class set of thesauruses—our new secret weapon against those brain-rot words—and a collection of engaging, diverse books that are already breathing new life into our learning. One of the biggest highlights? We now have a full class set of The Outsiders, a beloved favorite among our 7th graders. Before your donation, we had to share limited copies, and it made class discussions and close reading a real challenge. Now, every student has their own book in hand, which has completely transformed the way we read and interact with the story. The excitement they bring to our reading time is truly something special.\r\n\r\nWatching students flip through their thesauruses to level up their writing, or eagerly crack open The Outsiders to dive into Ponyboy's world, has been a joy. These resources are helping my students grow not only as readers and writers, but also as thoughtful, expressive individuals. Thank you for believing in their potential and investing in their voices. Your gift of books is already having a meaningful impact on my students. Because of your support, our shelves are now filled with diverse, engaging titles that reflect their interests, backgrounds, and imaginations—and that makes all the difference.\r\n\r\nWhen the box of books arrived, the excitement in our classroom was contagious. The students helped me unpack the box, eagerly flipping over the books to read the backs and inside covers. Even some of my more reluctant readers were curious and ready to dive in. I had specific students in mind when selecting certain titles, and when they realized a book had been chosen with them in mind, it made them feel seen and valued in such a powerful way.\r\n\r\nYour support is helping us build a true culture of reading—one where students feel inspired, challenged, and connected. These books are more than just stories; they're launching pads for deeper thinking, stronger literacy skills, and greater empathy.
